Town of Hempstead Councilwoman Honors Malverne Author for “The Silence Between Two Heartbeats”

Town of Hempstead Councilwoman Melissa Miller has formally congratulated Malverne resident A T M Haidar Khan on the publication of The Silence Between Two Heartbeats.

The recognition comes from the government of one of the largest municipalities in the country.

The Town of Hempstead describes itself as the largest township in the United States, covering more than 142 square miles with roughly 770,000 residents.

It is also one of the nation’s oldest towns, dating back to 1644.

Councilwoman Miller represents District 3 on the Town Council.

In a signed letter on official Town of Hempstead letterhead, Councilwoman Miller called the book “a powerful testament to the strength of a family bound together through fear, resilience, hope, and the unwavering love of a father.” She praised the courage it takes to share such a story publicly and described the book as “a gift to all who read it.” The book follows a family through a newborn’s stay in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and a diagnosis of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), a brain injury caused by a lack of oxygen around the time of birth.
