The new publication will extend the questions raised in The Silence Between Two Heartbeats into cited research and first-person family accounts of neonatal HIE.
The first issue, themed “The Watching Hours,” will ask what published research says about one question: after a highrisk infant leaves intensive care, is there a safe, practical, clinically validated way to detect abnormal brain activity at home when a caregiver notices something concerning?
The first issue is planned to include: • A Research Digest on caregiver observation and home seizure detection • A Research Gaps Spotlight on the missing pathway after a caregiver notices a concern • A reflection tied to Chapter Nine, “Six Months Without a Night” • The first Family Voices entry and an open call for HIE parents and caregivers • A Clinician Corner framework, marked pending until a clinical advisor is confirmed “Noticed is not the same as proven,” said Editor-in-Chief A T M Haidar Khan.
“This publication exists to keep those two things visibly separate.” The publication does not claim peer review, institutional endorsement, or affiliation, and has not yet filed for an ISSN.
