BOSTON — The Hale Family Center for Families at Boston Children’s Hospital has added The Silence Between Two Heartbeats to its family lending library, making the memoir available to families during a child’s hospitalization.
After the hardcover arrived, a Center administrator confirmed on September 21, 2026, that it had been added to the family lending library. The book recounts a family’s experience with a difficult birth, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, neonatal intensive care and the demands of caregiving. Its subject matter speaks directly to experiences families may navigate around a child’s hospital stay.
Boston Children’s Hospital is affiliated with Harvard Medical School and serves as a core pediatric teaching site for Harvard medical students. The memoir is a parent’s lived-experience narrative, not medical guidance.
