LONDON — The Royal Society of Medicine Library has agreed to add The Silence Between Two Heartbeats to its collection, creating a place for the family memoir within a related area of its holdings.
The book recounts a father’s experience of his daughter’s birth complications, neonatal intensive care and the responsibilities of caregiving after discharge. Its account is personal rather than clinical, bringing a family viewpoint to subjects that intersect with medicine, patient experience and the wider effects of serious illness on relatives.
In correspondence dated September 25, the library’s Collections Librarian said the library would be very happy to add a copy, while noting that the title is not strictly within its scope but fits a related area in which it occasionally collects.
